Parlin-Ingersoll Public Library will present “Dust Bowl Through the Lens” on Tuesday, February 11, 2014, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Library Program Room. Brooks Carver will present a program on the Dust Bowl through a slideshow of photographs from that time period. He will discuss the lives of some of the photographers, whose photographs depict this tragedy, as well as the causes and ramifications of these agricultural practices and worker migrations.
Brooks Carver is a local author known most recently for his books, On the Corner of Union and Prairie : Canton Stories and Legacy : The Story of Three Families, both co-written with Mike Walters. Brooks Carver developed this presentation for a program for the Spoon River College Retirees Institute and also presented it at the First Christian Church to large audiences. The library is delighted to host another presentation of this fascinating, heart wrenching depiction of American history.
